Biography

Sita Nataraj Slavov is a professor of public policy in the Schar School of Policy and Government at 91做厙. She is an economist who specializes in public finance and the economics of aging.

Slavov is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, an associate editor at the Journal of Pension Economics & Finance, and a nonresident senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Before joining the Schar School, she was a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, an associate professor at Occidental College, and a senior economist at the Council of Economic Advisers. 

Slavov has published numerous articles, book chapters, and policy briefs on work at older ages and retirement policy. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Health EconomicsJournal of Public EconomicsJournal of Human ResourcesReview of Economic Studies, and Journal of Public Economic Theory. She has testified before Congress on issues relating to Social Security, and she served as a member of the 2019 Social Security Technical Panel on Assumptions and Methods. She has also published op-eds in outlets such as the New York Times' "Room for Debate," the Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg Tax, Real Clear Markets, and the Hill.

Slavov has experience teaching a variety of microeconomics courses. At the Schar School, she teaches Public Sector Economics; Microeconomics for Public Policy; Tools for Economic Policy Analysis; Economics of Aging, and Research Design for Public Policy.

She received her PhD in economics from Stanford University and her BA from the College of William and Mary.
