The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at 91���� has partnered with Shenandoah University to create a streamlined process for granting priority status to five undergraduate students from George Mason’s Kinesiology Program for admission into Shenandoah University's doctor of physical therapy (DPT) program. 

91���� has earned the Carnegie Elective Classification for Sustainability, becoming one of the first 14 institutions to receive the new classification for integrating sustainability across the curriculum, research, operations, career preparation, and community engagement.

With support from a $3.7 million GO Virginia grant, 91���� will establish the Virginia Quantum Hub (VQH) — an inclusive quantum ecosystem, built by public–private partnerships, that generates intellectual property across research and technology, attracts capital investments, trains a highly skilled workforce, and addresses global innovation needs, from health and logistics to national security and energy sectors.

A new report from AIReDex.ai ranks 91���� as the top university in Virginia when it comes to preparing its students for an AI-driven future. The report, "The AI Battle of Virginia," rates George Mason 8.8 out of 10, putting it in the “progressive” category, on the strength of its wraparound commitment to AI accessibility and readiness.

According to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2027 released today, George Mason ranks No. 1 in Virginia and among the nation’s top 50 universities for innovation (42nd). The university is also the No. 1 public university in Virginia for upward mobility and earned top 20 national undergraduate rankings in cybersecurity and writing in the disciplines.

91���� Korea has welcomed four new members to its U.S. Advisory Board, expanding the group of university, business, and community leaders who provide strategic guidance and strengthen connections between Mason Korea and the university’s U.S. campuses.

George Mason held its first Grand Challenge Initiative (GCI) Exchange Day on Tuesday, September 15, bringing together more than 200 faculty members from across the university to talk to about the GCI-related work being done and invite collaboration as the call for proposals in second year of funding launches.

91���� hosted nearly 50 Japanese business leaders interested in data center technology, showcasing its cutting-edge energy and infrastructure research labs. The visit facilitated discussions with industry leaders and strengthened opportunities for collaboration between Virginia's rapidly growing data center sector and Japanese companies. 

Capping a year of recognition, George Mason alum Rhea Seehorn, BA Art (Studio) ’94, received an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards Monday, September 15, in Los Angeles.

91���� and Oxford-based frontier computing company TreQ announced a groundbreaking partnership this week to bring open-architecture quantum infrastructure to the Commonwealth of Virginia beginning with the first open-architecture quantum computing system in the state and National Capital Region.
