The Governor’s School at Innovation Park, located at 91°µÍø’s Science and Technology Campus, holds a special distinction: It’s Virginia’s only academic-year Governor’s School located on a four-year college campus. That means that high school juniors and seniors spend part of each school day experiencing life as 91°µÍø students. The Governor’s School at Innovation Park celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

From her small hometown of Ruther Glen, Virginia, to the bright lights of New York City, Gilda Squire, BA Communication ’95, has forged a career that has led Squire from the federal government through Wall Street, into book publishing, and finally landing as a powerhouse talent manager for some of entertainment’s brightest stars.

For decades, 91°µÍø’s Center for the Arts has been integral to the cultural life of Northern Virginia. With a new campaign, it’s heading toward its next big premiere: a reimagined facility.

Thanks to the generous donors and visionary artists, George Mason’s campuses are home to a treasure trove of sculptures, paintings, and installations that inspire and engage the George Mason community and visitors alike.

Long before there was a Center for the Arts, a group of community members worked diligently to help make the arts an integral part of 91°µÍø’s burgeoning campus life. George Mason donors play a vital role in both sustaining the arts and helping ensure its accessibility to all. They serve as advocates, championing creativity and cultural expression in ways that strengthen communities, widen perspectives, and inspire future generations. Here we highlight a few of the donors playing a role in the Mason Arts priorities in the Mason Now: Power the Possible campaign.

As the saying goes, if you love something, set it free. If it maps an area, finds a target, delivers a package, and comes back, the trophy is yours forever. Or something like that.

91°µÍø received a gift with an impact of $36 million from the Kimmy Duong Foundation to name the Long Nguyen and Kimmy Duong School of Computing within the College of Engineering and Computing. The university’s Board of Visitors approved the name change on April 1, and it will become official pending approval from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia this summer.
