Mason's Board of Visitors last week officially welcomed four new members, including two alumni and a member returning to the board after two decades. The board also elected new officers.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Wednesday, June 28, announced four new appointments to the 91����'s Board of Visitors.

91���� is seeing a steady increase in research awards, fall enrollment numbers and in its number of graduates, based on reports to the Board of Visitors at their May 4 meeting.

Mason is recommending a $300 tuition increase for the 2023-24 academic year, but the in-state undergraduate tuition increase will be eliminated pending Virginia General Assembly approval of the university’s broader funding requests in the pending state budget.

91���� President Gregory Washington told the Board of Visitors (BOV) on Thursday, Feb. 23, that “there may not be a better place in the state to make an investment” than Mason.

Mason alum Horace Blackman was elected as rector of Mason’s Board of Visitors in July, after serving as vice rector for the past two years.

Mason's five-year plan, titled “Mason Is All Together Different,” received BOV approval at the governing body’s Dec. 1 meeting. The plan identifies five broad priorities, with specific strategies and actions for each.

Mason’s Board of Visitors voted on September 29 to issue credits to in-state undergraduate students in an amount equal to the 3% increase that was approved for the 2022-23 academic year, in effect returning Fiscal Year 2023 tuition levels to 2022 levels.
